Sustainability Begins at the Source

2024 Foxlilie Fashion Show at the Yellow Barn in Boulder.

Sustainability doesn’t begin at the sewing machine. It begins with the fabric.

At Foxlilie, every garment starts with a question: What is our clothing going to be made from, and how well is it designed to stay in our closets? Just as importantly, how do these two things work together to create a lasting and sustainable product for both you and the planet?

This thinking guides us from start to finish. Sustainability and longevity go hand in hand from day one. We begin by choosing fabrics with care—prioritizing renewable fibers, ethical practices, and long-lasting quality—so every piece of clothing supports both people and the planet. Because what touches your skin should feel good in more ways than one.

For more than a decade, we’ve partnered with trusted suppliers who share our commitment to transparency and responsible production. These are relationships built on shared values, not convenience. Among them are Kendor Textiles and Gordon Fabrics in Vancouver, BC, along with our newer collaboration with Tuscarora Mills in Bedford, PA. Together, they help us source textiles that align with our small-batch, sustainability-first approach.

Through these partnerships, we source fabrics that reflect a shared commitment to responsible production. From globally vetted mills meeting strict standards like OEKO-TEX® certification to organic and renewable fibers such as TENCEL™, linen, hemp, and organic cotton, our partners prioritize transparency, durability, and lower-impact materials.

Their work supports ethical supply chains, long-term mill relationships, and community initiatives. In the case of Tuscarora Mills, it also supports the renewal of American textile manufacturing by weaving responsibly sourced natural fibers closer to home. Together, these partnerships make it possible for us to create small-batch garments rooted in accountability, craftsmanship, and care for both people and planet.

I have a deep respect for craftsmanship—work rooted in care and made from soft, intentional fibers that shape every garment in my wardrobe. What began as a curiosity about what clothing is made of has grown far beyond label checking. Today, it’s about sharing clothing made with sustainable materials and bringing that awareness to my community and beyond.

It’s also about taking the guesswork out of what’s in your clothes so you don’t have to be the constant label checker I once was. When you choose Foxlilie, you can trust what you’re wearing. You know where it came from. You know what it’s made of. And you know it was chosen with intention.

Every Foxlilie garment carries the story of where it began—the fibers, the hands, the mills, the relationships. By choosing thoughtful materials and trusted partners, we’re building clothing designed to endure—pieces that feel beautiful to wear and responsible to own.

Because sustainability isn’t just a trend for us. It’s woven into every fabric.
